15 March 2024 - Mineworkers at Lumwana Mine in Kalumbila District, Zambia fear for their health due to alleged uranium contamination in drinking water. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is demanding medical tests, compensation, and penalties for the mining company. The situation escalated after the government closed the case prematurely and a union leader advocating for medical tests was fired. Paternity Leave Laws in Zambia

The Tripartite Consultative Labour Council (TCLC) has added the inclusion of Paternity Leave for working fathers in the Employment Act. This provision will allow for working fathers to take seven days of paternity leave to take care of their newly born babies or their pregnant partners.
