What is Mywage Tanzania?

Mywage Tanzania is a website that offers free, fair and accurate information on wages, minimum wages, labour laws and decent work in Tanzania.

Who is the website for?

Everybody! Mywage Tanzania supplies content that is useful for both employees and employers, as well as those who are seeking work. It is relevant for the informal and formal sectors, and can be used by those seeking advice on most salary or labour-related issues.

Is Mywage Tanzania only an online project?

No. The Mywage Tanzania project will involve those who cannot easily access the internet through pamphlets, discussion groups and the media. The project also aims to bring together employees, employers, unionists, government representatives and the media to discuss socio-economic issues in Tanzania.

Who else in involved with Mywage Tanzania?

Mywage Tanzania is partnered with TUCTA, the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA) and the Association of Tanzanian Employers (ATE).

How does Mywage Tanzania collect its salary information?

Visitors to the Mywage Tanzania website are encouraged to take the 10-minute Income Survey. The information collected here relates to wages and working conditions, and is fed back into the site in the form of accessible information. The more people who take the Salary Survey, the more reliable the wage data is.

In addition, each year one lucky person from Tanzania who takes the survey will receive a cash prize of a minimum wage – the equivalent of one month’s minimum wage salary. Click here for further details.

Is Mywage Tanzania connected to any organisation?

Yes. Mywage Tanzania is part of the global Wage Indicator Foundation, which is based in the Netherlands. The foundation has websites in 60 countries around the world, including South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Wage Indicator Foundation works with journalists, IT specialists, academics, unionists and NGOs around the world to provide easy-to-use, accurate wage and work information.
